Truth until death

Question:

Is it allowed to not conceal (Taqiyyah) oneself until one is killed?

Answer:

Sa’dan Ibn Muslim reported that Imam Al-Kazim (a.) said: “O man, tell the truth, even if in it is your downfall, for therein lies your salvation and rejects falsehood, even if in it is your salvation, for therein lies your downfall!” [Mishkat-ul-Anwar of Abu Al-Fadl At-Tabarsi, page 137 Hadith 4]

Abdullah Ibn Ata’ reported that he asked Imam Al-Baqir (a.): “What about two men who are grabbed and asked: “renounce from the commander of the believers!” One of them renounces himself and the other one refuses, after which the one, who renounced himself, is released and the one, who refused is killed?” He said: “As for him who renounced himself, he is well versed in the understanding (Fiqh) of his faith and as for him who did not renounce himself, he is a man who is rushing to Paradise.”[Al-Kafi of Al-Kulaini, Volume 2, page 221 Hadith 21]
