Muhammad Ibn Hasan At-Tusi writes: “Hanan Ibn Suddi narrated from Isma’ il Al-Bazzaz that Abu Abdillah As-Sadiq (a.) said: “The relative of this matter is approaching the authority, whereby he is twenty years old.” Isma’il said: “By God, no one approached her at a younger age than him and he is at the age that Abu Abdillah (a.) said.” “In this report there is no clarity as to who is the one who is performing this thing, for he only said that he would be twenty years old and the narrator put it according to what he wanted. The Narrators own words are not a proof, and if anyone other than him were to construe it differently, then they would not differ from each other with regards to their explanation and so it would be invalid to refer to them.” [Al-Ghaibah of At-Tusi, p. 44]

قال أبو جعفر الطوسي: وحدثني حنان بن سدي عن إسماعيل البزاز قال قال أبو عبد الله عليه السلام إن صاحب هذا الامر يلي الوصية وهو ابن عشرين سنة فقال إسماعيل فوالله ما وليها أحد قط كان أحدث منه وإنه لفي السن الذي قال أبو عبد الله عليه السلام فليس في هذا الخبر تصريح من الذي يقوم بهذا الامر وإنما قال يكون ابن عشرين سنة وحمله الراوي على ما أراد وقول الراوي ليس بحجة ولو حمل غيره على غيره لكان ساواه في التأويل فبطل التعلق به

Uthman Ibn Isa reported that Imam Al-Mahdi (a.) said: “As for the upcoming occurrences, return to the narrators of our sayings, for they are my proof upon you, and I am the proof of God upon you.” [Al-Ghaibah of At-Tusi, page 184]

عن جماعة عن أبي محمد عن أحمد بن علي عن الحسين بن علي عن محمد بن علي عن علي بن محمد عن علي بن إبراهيم عن عثمان بن عيسى عن الإمام المهدي عليه السلام قال: وأما الحوادث الواقعة فارجعوا فيها إلى رواة حديثنا فإنهم حجتي عليكم وأنا حجة الله عليكم
