The innovators claimed that Imam Abu Ja’far Al-Baqir (a.) was asked about whether the believer is tested with homosexuality or bestiality, whereupon he would have confirmed it and said that the believer must be on top and not at the bottom. What is the true wording of the report?

Muhammad Ibn Ali reported that Imam Al-Baqir (a.) was asked: “Is the believer being tested?” He said: “Yes, but he gets the upper hand and the upper hand does not prevail over him.” [Al-Mahasin of Al-Barqi, Volume 1 Page 113 Hadith 107]

Furthermore, the innovators claim that Imam Ali (a.) allowed sodomy by saying that sodomy is not similar to going in to the buttocks and is not disbelief. What is the actual text of the report?

Ja’far As-Sadiq (a.) reported that Imam Ali (a.) said: “Homosexuality is smaller than the buttocks, and the buttocks is disbelief.” [Al-Kafi of Al-Kulaini, Volume 5 Page 544 Hadith 3]

Al-Husain (a.) reported that Imam Ali (a.) was questioned: “What is the attitude of someone who has contact with a man through the thighs or buttocks?” He said: “For both of these things they will receive the punishment for transgressing the law of God.” [Mustadrak-ul-Wasa’il by Al-Mirza An-Nuri, Volume 18, Page 79 Hadith 4]

Ja’far As-Sadiq (a.) reported that Imam Ali (a.) said: “If a man is caught with a boy unclothed under a blanket, then he should be slain and the boy should be taught a lesson. Abu Bakr Al-Hadrami reported that Imam As-Sadiq (a.) said: “The commander of the believers (a.) brought a man and a woman whose husband practiced homosexuality with their son from another marriage and penetrated him. When witnessed by four people, the Commander of the Faithful (a.) ordered that the man be slain and killed with a sword and that the boy be beaten below the punishment for violating the laws of God. Imam Ali said: “Had it been you, my judgment on you would have been killing, because you allowed the man to penetrate you.” [Al-Kafi of Al-Kulaini, Volume 5 Page 199 Hadith 4]

Abd-ur-Rahman Ibn Al-Hajjaj reported that Imam As-Sadiq (a.) said: “Imam Ali (a.) used to give hits to both men who were under a blanket as punishment for transgressing the laws of God and to both women who were under a blanket as punishment for transgressing the laws of God.” [Al-Kafi of Al-Kulaini, Volume 5 Page 181 – 182 Hadith 7]

Comment:

If there is a person who permits such an act, he certainly does not belong to the followers of the imams (a.), but rather to the followers of the tyrants.

Muhammad Ibn Sirin reported that Umar Ibn Al-Khattab said: “Nothing remained of the habits from the time of ignorance except that i do not care with whom of the people i have intercourse with and which of the people has intercourse with me.” [Tabaqat-ul-Kubra by Ibn Sa’d, Volume 3, page 269 Hadith 3714]
