Characteristics of a good woman

Jabir ibn Abdillah said: “We were in the presence of the Prophet (s.a.), whereupon he said: “The best of your wives is the one who gives birth, the one who is loving, the one who is chaste, the one who is respected among her relatives, the one who submits to her husband, the one who shows her charms to her partner, the one who restrains herself towards others than him, the one who listens to his word and follows his instruction, and the one who, when he is alone with her, grants him what he wants from her and does not behave in an ordinary way as the man usually does.” [Al-Kafi of Al-Kulaini, Volume 5, Page 324, Hadith 1]

عِدَّةٌ مِنْ أَصْحَابِنَا عَنْ سَهْلِ بْنِ زِيَادٍ وَ مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ يَحْيَى عَنْ أَحْمَدَ بْنِ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ عِيسَى وَ عَلِيُّ بْنُ إِبْرَاهِيمَ عَنْ أَبِيهِ جَمِيعاً عَنِ الْحَسَنِ بْنِ مَحْبُوبٍ عَنْ عَلِيِّ بْنِ رِئَابٍ عَنْ أَبِي حَمْزَةَ قَالَ سَمِعْتُ جَابِرَ بْنَ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ يَقُولُ كُنَّا عِنْدَ النَّبِيِّ صلى الله عليه وآله فَقَالَ إِنَّ خَيْرَ نِسَائِكُمُ الْوَلُودُ الْوَدُودُ الْعَفِيفَةُ الْعَزِيزَةُ فِي أَهْلِهَا الذَّلِيلَةُ مَعَ بَعْلِهَا الْمُتَبَرِّجَةُ مَعَ زَوْجِهَا الْحَصَانُ عَلَى غَيْرِهِ الَّتِي تَسْمَعُ قَوْلَهُ وَ تُطِيعُ أَمْرَهُ وَ إِذَا خَلَا بِهَا بَذَلَتْ لَهُ مَا يُرِيدُ مِنْهَا وَ لَمْ تَبَذَّلْ كَتَبَذُّلِ الرَّجُلِ

Abu Basir reported about Imam Sadiq (a.s.) that he said: “The best of your women is the one who takes off the covering of shame when she is alone with her partner and who puts on the covering of shame together with him, when she dresses.” [Al-Kafi of Al-Kulaini, Volume 5, Page 324, Hadith 2]

عِدَّةٌ مِنْ أَصْحَابِنَا عَنْ أَحْمَدَ بْنِ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ خَالِدٍ الْبَرْقِيِّ عَنْ أَحْمَدَ بْنِ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ أَبِي نَصْرٍ عَنْ حَمَّادِ بْنِ عُثْمَانَ عَنْ أَبِي بَصِيرٍ عَنْ أَبِي عَبْدِ اللَّهِ عليه السلام قَالَ خَيْرُ نِسَائِكُمُ الَّتِي إِذَا خَلَتْ مَعَ زَوْجِهَا خَلَعَتْ لَهُ دِرْعَ الْحَيَاءِ وَ إِذَا لَبِسَتْ لَبِسَتْ مَعَهُ دِرْعَ الْحَيَاءِ

Imam Sadiq (a.s.) reported about God’s messenger (s.a.) that he said: “The best of your wives is the chaste, the lustful one.” [Al-Kafi of Al-Kulaini, Volume 5, Page 324, Hadith 3]

الْحُسَيْنُ بْنُ مُحَمَّدٍ عَنْ مُعَلَّى بْنِ مُحَمَّدٍ عَنْ بَعْضِ أَصْحَابِهِ عَنْ أَبَانِ بْنِ عُثْمَانَ عَنْ يَحْيَى بْنِ أَبِي الْعَلَاءِ وَ الْفَضْلِ بْنِ عَبْدِ الْمَلِكِ عَنْ أَبِي عَبْدِ اللَّهِ ) عليه السلام ( قَالَ قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّه) صلى الله عليه وآله ( خَيْرُ نِسَائِكُمُ الْعَفِيفَةُ الْغَلِمَةُ

Imam Sadiq (a.s.) reported about God’s messenger (s.a.) that he said: “The best women of my nation are those of them with the most radiant face and the smallest dowry.” [Al-Kafi of Al-Kulaini, Volume 5, Page 324, Hadith 4]

عَلِيُّ بْنُ إِبْرَاهِيمَ عَنْ أَبِيهِ عَنِ النَّوْفَلِيِّ عَنِ السَّكُونِيِّ عَنْ أَبِي عَبْدِ اللَّهِ ) عليه السلام ( قَالَ قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ) صلى الله عليه وآله  أَفْضَلُ نِسَاءِ أُمَّتِي أَصْبَحُهُنَّ وَجْهاً وَ أَقَلُّهُنَّ مَهْراً(

Imam Rida (a.s.) reported about the commander of the believers (a.s.) that he said: “The best of your wives are five.” They said: “O Commander of the Faithful, who are the five?” He (a.s.) said: “The simple, the gentle, the approaching, the one who finds no sleep when her partner becomes angry until he is satisfied, and protects him in his absence when her partner is not present. This, then, is one of the agents of God, and the agents of God does not fail.” [Al-Kafi of Al-Kulaini, Volume 5, pages 324-325, Hadith 5]

    عِدَّةٌ مِنْ أَصْحَابِنَا عَنْ أَحْمَدَ بْنِ مُحَمَّدٍ الْبَرْقِيِّ عَنْ إِسْمَاعِيلَ بْنِ مِهْرَانَ عَنْ سُلَيْمَانَ الْجَعْفَرِيِّ عَنْ أَبِي الْحَسَنِ الرِّضَا عليه السلام قَالَ قَالَ أَمِيرُ الْمُؤْمِنِينَ عليه السلام خَيْرُ نِسَائِكُمُ الْخَمْسُ قِيلَ يَا أَمِيرَ الْمُؤْمِنِينَ وَ مَا الْخَمْسُ قَالَ الْهَيِّنَةُ اللَّيِّنَةُ الْمُؤَاتِيَةُ الَّتِي إِذَا غَضِبَ زَوْجُهَا لَمْ تَكْتَحِلْ بِغُمْضٍ حَتَّى يَرْضَى وَ إِذَا غَابَ عَنْهَا زَوْجُهَا حَفِظَتْهُ فِي غَيْبَتِهِ فَتِلْكَ عَامِلٌ مِنْ عُمَّالِ اللَّهِ وَ عَامِلُ اللَّهِ لَا يَخِيبُ

Imam Sadiq (a.s.) said: “The best of your women is the one who smells good, who cooks well, who spends for a good cause if she spends and keeps for a good cause when she keeps for herself. This one, then, is one of the agents of God, and neither does the agents of God fail nor repent.” [Al-Kafi of Al-Kulaini, Volume 5, Page 325, Hadith 6]

وَ عَنْهُ عَنْ أَبِيهِ عَنْ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ سِنَانٍ عَنْ بَعْضِ رِجَالِهِ قَالَ قَالَ أَبُو عَبْدِ اللَّهِ ) عليه السلام ( خَيْرُ نِسَائِكُمُ الطَّيِّبَةُ الرِّيحِ الطَّيِّبَةُ الطَّبِيخِ الَّتِي إِذَا أَنْفَقَتْ أَنْفَقَتْ بِمَعْرُوفٍ وَ إِذَا أَمْسَكَتْ أَمْسَكَتْ بِمَعْرُوفٍ فَتِلْكَ عَامِلٌ مِنْ عُمَّالِ اللَّهِ وَ عَامِلُ اللَّهِ لَا يَخِيبُ وَ لَا يَنْدَمُ

Imam Sadiq (a.s.) reported about God’s messenger (s.a.) that he said: “The best of your wives is the one preparing good food, the fragrant one, the one who spends for good cause when she spends and keeps for good cause when she keeps for herself. This then is one of the agents of God, and agents of God do not fail.” [Al-Kafi of Al-Kulaini, 5, page 325, hadith 7]

حُمَيْدُ بْنُ زِيَادٍ عَنِ الْحَسَنِ بْنِ مُوسَى الْخَشَّابِ عَنِ الْحَسَنِ بْنِ عَلِيِّ بْنِ يُوسُفَ بْنِ بَقَّاحٍ عَنْ مُعَاذٍ الْجَوْهَرِيِّ عَنْ عَمْرِو بْنِ جُمَيْعٍ عَنْ أَبِي عَبْدِ اللَّهِ ) عليه السلام ( قَالَ قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ) صلى الله عليه وآله ( خَيْرُ نِسَائِكُمُ الطَّيِّبَةُ الطَّعَامِ الطَّيِّبَةُ الرِّيحِ الَّتِي إِنْ أَنْفَقَتْ أَنْفَقَتْ بِمَعْرُوفٍ وَ إِنْ أَمْسَكَتْ أَمْسَكَتْ بِمَعْرُوفٍ فَتِلْكَ عَامِلٌ مِنْ عُمَّالِ اللَّهِ وَ عَامِلُ اللَّهِ لَا يَخِيبُ
