Muhammad Ibn Ali As-Saduq writes:“Chapter 39 – The Time for Noon (Zuhr) and Afternoon (Asr) – Ja’far As-Sadiq (a.) said: “When the sun is tilted, the time for the two prayers occurred unless there is an additional prayer between the two. If you want, you lengthen it and if you want, you shorten it.” He also said: “The first time begins with the tilting of the sun and this is the first timing of God and the best of the two.” Likewise he said: “When the sun is tilted, the gates of heaven open, so i don’t like anyone to precede me with the pious work. It is dear to me that my sheet is the first sheet on which the pious work is written.” Likewise, he said: “None of you is safe from passing away when the time for prayer has come and when you are free and the first time for noon (Zuhr) is from the moment when the sun is tilted until two feet (of shadow) have passed and the time for the afternoon (Asr) is from the moment when two feet have passed until the sun is hidden.” Likewise he said: “The advantage of the first over the last time is like the advantage of the hereafter over this world.” – Chapter 40 – The Time for the Evening (Maghrib) and the Night (Isha’) – Ja’far As-Sadiq (a.) said: “When the sun is hidden, breaking of fasting is allowed and prayer has become a obligation and the time for the evening (Maghrib) is the narrowest of times and it runs from the hiddenness of the sun to the hiddenness of twilight and the time for the night (Isha’) runs from the hiddenness of twilight to the third part of the night.” – Chapter 41 – The Time for the Morning (Ghadah) – When Ja’far As-Sadiq (a.) was asked about the time for the morning, he said: “When the morning dawn rises and it shines well.” [Al-Hidayah, pages 127 – 130]
