Question:

One of the innovators made the claim that Fatimah (a.) did not have a door on her house and gave Al-Khisal of As-Saduq on page 373 as the source. Is this in agreement with the truth?

Answer:

Muhammad ibn Ali Al-Baqir (a.) reported that Imam Ali (a.) said: “For the houses of us – the people of the house of Muhammad (s.) – there are no roofs and no doors and no curtains except the palm leaves and what resembles that.” [Al-Khisal of As-Saduq, page 373]

حدثنا أبي ومحمد بن الحسن رضي الله عنهما قالا: حدثنا سعد بن عبد الله قال: حدثنا أحمد بن الحسين بن سعيد قال: حدثني جعفر بن محمد النوفلي، عن يعقوب بن يزيد قال: قال أبو عبد الله جعفر بن أحمد بن محمد بن عيسى بن محمد بن علي ابن عبد الله بن جعفر بن أبي طالب قال: حدثنا يعقوب بن عبد الله الكوفي قال: حدثنا موسى بن عبيدة، عن عمرو بن أبي المقدام، عن أبي إسحاق، عن الحارث، عن محمد بن – الحنفية رضي الله عنه، وعمرو بن أبي المقدام، عن جابر الجعفي، عن أبي جعفر عليه السلام عن أمير المؤمنين عليه السلام: ونحن أهل بيت محمد صلى الله عليه وآله لا سقوف لبيوتنا، ولا أبواب ولا ستور إلا الجرائد، وما أشبهها

There were doors made from the palm tree.

The Qur’an states:

“Know that there is no god except Allah.” [Muhammad 47:19]

فاعلم أنه لا إله إلا الله

So, in the world of these people, there are neither doors nor a god? 

Ja’far As-Sadiq (a.) reported that Prophet Muhammad (s.) said: “Know, O Ali, that I am satisfied with what my daughter Fatimah (a.) is satisfied with and so is my Lord and the angels. O Ali, woe to him who oppresses her! Woe to him who confiscates her right! Woe to him who violates her protection! Woe to him who burns her door! Woe to him who harms her confidant! Woe to him who attacks her and makes her life miserable! O God, I dissociate myself from them! They have nothing to do with me!” [Bihar-ul-Anwar of Al-Majlisi, Volume 22 page 485 Hadith 30]

عن السيد رضي الدين الموسوي رضي الله عنه من كتاب خصائص الأئمة عن هارون بن موسى، عن أحمد بن محمد بن عمار العجلي الكوفي، عن عيسى الضرير، عن الكاظم، عن أبيه عليهما السلام قال: قال رسول الله صلى الله عليه وآله: واعلم يا علي إني راض عمن رضيت عنه ابنتي فاطمة، وكذلك ربي وملائكته، يا علي ويل لمن ظلمها وويل لمن ابتزها حقها، وويل لمن هتك حرمتها، وويل لمن أحرق بابها، وويل لمن آذى خليلها وويل لمن شاقها وبارزها، اللهم إني منهم برئ، وهم مني برآء

Even the innovators confirm that the house of Fatimah (a.) had a door.

Nafi’ reported that Abdullah Ibn Umar said: “Prophet Muhammad (s.) came to the house of Fatimah (a.) but did not enter. Then Ali (a.) came and she told him about it. He mentioned it to the Messenger (s.) and he said: “I saw an decorated curtain on her door.” He said: “I have no need of worldly concerns.” Ali (a.) came to Fatimah (a.) and told her about it and she said: “Let him command me whatever he wants.” He made her send it to a needy family.” [Sahih Al-Bukhari, Hadith 2471]
