Would you call the Imam a “liar”?

Aḥmad ibn Muḥammad ibn ʿĪsa narrated to us from al-Ḥusayn ibn Saʿīd and Muḥammad ibn Khālid al-Barqī, from ʿAbdullah ibn Jundub of Sufyān ibn al-Simṭ, who said:“I said to Abū ʿAbdillah (peace be upon him): ,,May I be sacrificed to you! A man comes to us and he is a known liar, so he narrates a saying [ḥadīth] to us and we consider [what he narrates] strange and repulsive.” So the Imam (peace be upon him) said: “Is he telling you that I have said that the night is day and the day is night?” I said: “No.” Then [the Imam] said: “Even if he says to you that I said that, do not accuse him of lying, for it would be as if you were accusing me of lying.” [al-Lawami’ al-Nuraniyyah, page 527]
