“The heavens almost break apart above them and the angels praise the praise of their Lord and ask forgiveness, for the one who is on earth. Behold, God is the Forgiving, the Merciful.” [Ash-Shura 42:5]

تكاد السماوات يتفطرن من فوقهن والملائكة يسبحون بحمد ربهم ويستغفرون لمن في الأرض ألا إن الله هو الغفور الرحيم

Ziyad ibn Mundhir reported that Imam Al-Baqir (a.) said about the verse: ﴾They break apart above them.﴿ (42:5) Said: “By this is meant, that they split apart.” [Al-Burhan of Al-Bahrani, Volume 7, Page 65, Hadith 2]

عن زياد بن منذر عن الإمام الباقر عليه السلام في قوله تعالى يتفطرن من فوقهن: أي يتصدعن

Fadl Ibn Hasan reported that Imam As-Sadiq (a.) said: “They ask forgiveness for him (42:5), who is from the believers on earth.” [Jawami’-ul-Jami’ of At-Tabarsi, Volume 3, Page, 277]

عن فضل بن حسن عن الإمام الصادق عليه السلام قال: ويستغفرون لمن في الأرض من المؤمنين

Hisham ibn Salim reported that Imam As-Sadiq (a.) read: ﴾The heavens almost break apart above them and the angels, who stand around the Throne, praise their Lord and do not get tired and they ask forgiveness for him, who is from the believers on earth.﴿ (42:5) I said: “What is this, my life be sacrificed for you?” He said: “This is the Qur’an as it was revealed to Muhammad (s.) in the handwriting of Ali (a.).” I said: “But we read: ﴾And ask forgiveness for him who is on earth.﴿” (42:5) He said: “But on the earth are Jews, Nazarenes, Zoroastrians, and idolaters. Do you think that the holders of the throne ask forgiveness for such? He, who wrote this down, is indeed a misguided false teacher, who teaches them disbelief and heresy.” [Al-Qira’at of As-Sayyari, page 126, hadith 479.]

عن أحمد بن محمد عن عبد الله الأصم عن هشام بن سالم عن الإمام الصادق عليه السلام في الآية: تكاد السماوات يتفطرن من فوقهن والملائكة من حول العرش يسبحون بحمد ربهم ولا يفترون ويستغفرون لمن في الأرض من المؤمنين. قلت: ما هذا جعلت فداك؟ قال: هذا القرآن كما أنزل على محمد صلى الله عليه وآله بخط علي صلوات الله عليه. قلت: إنا نقرأ ويستغفرون لمن في الأرض. قال: ففي الأرض اليهود والنصارى والمجوس وعبدة الأوثان أفترى أن حملة العرش يستغفرون لهؤلاء؟ إن الذي وضع هذه لضال مضل يعلمهم الكفر والزندقة
