Hashim Ibn Sulaiman Al-Bahrani writes: ,,At-Tabarsi said in Al-Ihtijaj: Among that, which came forth from the Commander of Time (a.) as a reaction to the exaggerators in signature and in response to what Muhammad Ibn Ali Ibn Hilal Al-Karkhi wrote to him, is: O Muhammad Ibn Ali, God is exalted above what they imagine. Praise and glory be to Him. We are neither His partners in His knowledge nor in His power. Rather, no one knows the hidden except for Him as He said in His clear scripture: ๏ดพSay: No one in the heavens and on the earth knows the hidden except for God.๏ดฟ (27:65) And I and all my fathers from the earlier ones like Adam, Noah, Abraham, Moses and the others from the prophets and from the later ones like Muhammad, The messenger of God and Ali Ibn Abi Talib, Hasan, Husain and the others from the Imams, who preceded to the extent of my days and end of my time,are the servants of God. God says: ๏ดพWhoever turned away from My reminder, is destined for a miserable life and on the Day of Resurrection We will gather him blind. He said: ,,Lord, why did You gather me blind when I had been seeing?” He said: ,,Thus Our signs came to you. Muhammad Baqir Al-Majlisi writes: ,,Nahj-ul-Balaghah: When he (a.) was narrating the news about the Turks and about some news that would arrive in the future, someone from his companions said to him: ๏ดพYou have been given knowledge about the hidden, O Commander of the Faithful.๏ดฟ So he laughed and said to the one who was a Calbite: ๏ดพO brother of the Calbite, it is not knowledge of the hidden and it is only an instruction by the one, who has knowledge and the knowledge of the hidden is only the knowledge of the Hour and what God has listed through His word: ,,With God is the knowledge of the Hour.” (31:34) Thus, He knows what is in the wombs. From male, or female, or repulsive, or beautiful, or generous, or stingy, or miserable, or blessed and who will be firewood for the fire or in the paradises as companions of the prophets. So this is the knowledge of the hidden, which none knows except for God and what is besides this, so this is the knowledge, which God taught His Prophet, whereupon he taught it to me and prayed for me, that it may be kept in my breast and be received by my inner being.๏ดฟ” [Bihar-ul-Anwar, Volume 26, Page 103]

So I take God as a witness, besides Whom there is no God and Who is sufficient as a witness and His Messenger Muhammad, His angels, His prophets, and His near ones (a. ) and I take you as a witness and I take everyone as a witness who hears this letter from me that I distance (Bara’ah) myself with God and His Messenger from those, who says that we know the hidden and share in His sovereignty, or who gives us a position apart from the position, which God has chosen for us and for which He created us, or goes further with us, than what I explained and clarified to you at the beginning of my letter and I take you as witnesses that God distances himself from those, from whom we distance ourselves, and His angels and messengers and near ones and I made this signing, which is in this letter, a pledge of trust on your neck and the neck of the those who heard it, that no one conceal it from anyone of my near ones and followers, until everyone of the near ones learns about this signing, so that God may correct them, whereupon they return to the true religion of God and abstain from that in which they do not know the end of its cause and the extent of its end. Muhammad Baqir Al-Majlisi writes: ,,It has often been observed, that for them (a.) with the denial of knowledge of the hidden is meant, that they do not know it by themselves without His (God) instruction through revelation or inspiration. Otherwise it is clear, that the main subject of the miracles of the Prophets and Messengers (a.) is of this kind and one of the aspects of the miraculous character of the Qur’an also includes news about the hidden and through the instruction of God, His Messenger and the Imams (a.) we also know many things of the hidden like the resurrection, its circumstances, the paradise, the fire, the return (Raj’ah), the rising of the riser (Qa’im), the coming down of Jesus (a.) and others of the omens of the hour, the throne,the chair and the angels. As for the five, that appear in the verse, there are several possible meanings for them. The first consists, that it means that no one knows those things in exact and explicit detailing, except for God, because if they announce the death of a person on any day, then there is the possibility for example, that they do not know the exact moment when the spirit separates from the body and it is also possible that the angel of death does not know that. The second consists, that it is fixed knowledge that is reserved only for Him and everything, which God teaches about it, can be subject to appearance (Bada’). The third consists, that by the knowledge, that is not found in others except for Him, is meant, that which comes only from Him. So it is like the rest of the hidden matters and the exact detailing of it is to make, a certain thing visible to it or for some other reason. The fourth consists, in what we pointed out before and that is, that God does not give any of the creation complete insight into those things in a way, that does not involve any appearance (Bada’), but shortly after its occurance He transmits the knowledge of it in a fixed form and this is a plausible meaning, to which numerous traditions point to, since the angel of death must necessarily know the exact time, as it occurs in the traditions and like this the angels of the clouds and of the rain know the time for the fall of the rain and like this the administrators from the angels know the times of the occurrence of the events.” [Bihar-ul-Anwar, Volume 26, page 103 – 104]

Salih ibn Sahl reported about Imam As-Sadiq (a.): ,,I sat with him, whereupon he said starting from himself: ๏ดพO Salih ibn Sahl, God put between Himself and the messengers a messenger and He did not put between Himself and the Imam a messenger.๏ดฟ I said: ๏ดพHow so?๏ดฟ He said: ๏ดพHe put between Himself and the Imam a pillar of light. God looks through it to the Imam and the Imam looks through it to Him. When he wants to know something, he looks into that light, whereupon he is informed about it.๏ดฟ” [Basa’ir-ud-Darajat, page 460, Hadith 2]
