“Behold, upon those near to God will not come any fear, nor will they grieve.” [Yunus 10:62]

ألا إن أولياء الله لا خوف عليهم ولا هم يحزنون

Abayah Al-Asadi reported that Abdullah ibn Abbas said: ,,One asked the Commander of the Believers (a.) about His word: ﴾Behold, upon those near to God will not come any fear nor will they grieve.﴿ (10:62) So they said to him: ﴾Who are those near ones?﴿ Then the Commander of the Believers (a.) said: ﴾These are people who were devoted to God in service to Him and looked at the inside of this world while people looked at its outside. Thus, they recognized their hereafter, while the creatures besides them were blinded by their this world. Thus they gave up that of it which they knew would leave them, and let that of it die which they knew would leave them to die.﴿ Hereupon he said: ﴾O you, who are occupied with this world, who have fallen into its trap, who are striving to build up that which is laid in ruins by it, have you not looked upon the downfall of your fathers in decay, and the lair of your descendants under stones and earth? How often have you cultivated and cared for them with your hands? Doctors gave them prescriptions and loved ones prayed for them. But neither did your skill avail them nor did your remedy show effect on them.﴿” [Al-Burhan of Al-Bahrani, Volume 4, page 36 – 37, Hadith 5]

عباية الأسدي عن عبد الله بن عباس قال: سئل أمير المؤمنين علي بن أبي طالب عليه السلام عن قوله تعالى ألا إن أولياء الله لا خوف عليهم ولا هم يحزنون فقيل له: من هؤلاء الأولياء فقال أمير المؤمنين عليه السلام: هم قوم أخلصوا لله تعالى في عبادته، و نظروا الى باطن الدنيا حين نظر الناس إلى ظاهرها، فعرفوا آجلها حين غر الخلق سواهم بعاجلها، فتركوا منها ما علموا أنه سيتركهم، و أماتوا منها ما علموا أنه سيميتهم ثم قال: أيها المعلل نفسه بالدنيا، الراكض على حبائلها، المجتهد في عمارة ما سيخرب منها، ألم تر إلى مصارع آبائك في البلى، و مضاجع أبنائك تحت الجنادل و الثرى، كم مرضت بيديك و عللت بكفيك، تستوصف لهم الأطباء و تستعتب لهم الأحباء، فلم يغن عنهم غناؤك، و لا ينجع فيهم دواؤك

Abu Basir reported that Imam As-Sadiq (a.) said: ,,O Abu Basir, Blessed are the followers of our riser (Qa’im) who await his appearance during his concealment and obey him when he appears. Those are the ones near to God, upon whom fear will not come, nor will they be grieved.” (10:62) [Nur-uth-Thaqalain, Volume 2, Page 309, Hadith 94]

محمد بن علي بن الحسين عن أبي بصير عن جعفر بن محمد الصادق عليه السلام قال: يا أبا بصير طوبى لشيعة قائمنا المنتظرين لظهوره في غيبته، والمطيعين له في ظهوره أولئك أولياء الله الذين لا خوف عليهم ولا هم يحزنون

Buraid Ibn Mu’awiyah reported that Imam Al-Baqir (a.) said: ,,We found in the scripture of Ali Ibnu l-Husain (a.): ﴾Behold, upon the near ones of God will not come any fear nor will they be grieved.﴿” (10:62 He said: ,,If they fulfill the duties of God and follow the customs of the Messenger of God (s) and refrain from the prohibitions of God and renounce the transient splendor of this world and seek what is with God and acquire the good of the provision of God. Neither do they want boastfulness nor accumulation. Hereupon, they spend what is imposed on them in the way of befitting privileges. Thus those are to whom God blessed what they acquired and rewarded for what they sent ahead for their Hereafter.” [Al-Burhan of Al-Bahrani, Volume 4, Page 37, Hadith 7]

بريد بن معاوية عن محمد بن علي الباقر عليه السلام قال: وجدنا في كتاب علي بن الحسين عليه السلام: ألا إن أولياء الله لا خوف عليهم ولا هم يحزنون قال: إذا أدوا فرائض الله وأخذوا بسنن رسول الله صلى الله عليه وآله وتورعوا عن محارم الله وزهدوا في عاجل زهرة الدنيا ورغبوا فيما عند الله وكاتبسوا الطيب من رزق الله لا يريدون التفاخر والتكاثر ثم أنفقوا فيما يلزمهم من حقوق واجبة فأولئك الذين بارك الله لهم فيما اكتسبوا ويثابون على ما قدموا لآخرتهم

Some of those who understand reported that Imam Ali (a.) said: ,,Behold, upon those who are near to God there will be no fear nor will they grieve.” (10:62) Thereupon he said: ,,Do you know who those who are near to God are?” They said: ,,Who are they, O Commander of the Believers?” So he said: ,,They are us and our followers from among those who followed us after us. Having either welfare for us and welfare for them is better than having welfare for us.” They said: ,,O Commander of the Believers, what is the meaning of ﴾Welfare for them is better than welfare for us﴿? Do not they and we belong to one cause?” He said: ,,No, they took upon themselves what you did not take upon yourselves, and they endured what you did not endure.” [Nur-uth-Thaqalain, Vol. 2, page 309, Hadith 91]

محمد بن مسعود عن عبد الرحمن بن سالم عن بعض الفقهاء عن علي بن أبي طالب عليه السلام قال: ألا إن أولياء الله لا خوف عليهم ولا هم يحزنون. ثم قال: تدرون من أولياء الله قالوا: من هم يا أمير المؤمنين فقال: هم نحن وأتباعنا ممن تبعنا من بعدنا، طوبى لنا وطوبى لهم أفضل من طوبى لنا، قالوا: يا أمير المؤمنين ما شأن طوبى لهم أفضل من طوبى لنا ألسنا نحن وهم على أمر قال: لا إنهم حملوا ما لم تحملوا عليه وأطاقوا ما لم تطيقوا

Abd-ul-Wahid reported that Imam Ali (a.) said: ,,Do not let the majority of your worry be about your relatives and descendants because if they are near to God, then God will not let His near (Wali) be lost and if they are the enemies of God, then what should you worry about the enemies of God?” [Ghurar-ul-Hikam of At-Tamimi, page 761, Hadith 240]

عبد الواحد عن علي بن أبي طالب عليه السلام قال: لا تجعل أكثر همك بأهلك وولدك فإنهم إن يكونوا أولياء اللّه سبحانه فإن الله لا يضيع وليه وإن يكونوا أعداء اللّه فما همك بأعداء اللّه
